The brand has always been a trendsetter. When automatic movements started becoming popular in the 1950s, there were no automatic chronograph movements. Zenith developed the first automatic chronograph in 1962.

From El Primero, the first automatic chronograph, to the El Primero 21, the fastest chronograph with 1/100th of a second precision, Zenith has been continuously shaping the future for Swiss watchmaking since 1865.

The El Primero movement, released in 1969, became an emblematic milestone in watchmaking, and it has won countless awards. Many years later, the El Primero was equipped with the Flyback function dedicated to aviation enthusiasts. Zenith timepieces are fitted with this caliber and unique in-house mechanisms. The brand has a proud history of technical innovation and 600 movement variations in a little over a century and won more than 2,333 chronometry prizes.

From Mahatma Gandhi and Roald Amundsen to Louis Blériot and Felix Baumgartner, Zenith boasts a long list of fans. With its glorious past and advanced technology, the watch has been cherished throughout history. Luxury giants LVMH (Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton) bought the Zenith Company in 2001. The brand celebrated the 50th anniversary of its El Primero movement in 2019. After 50 years of El Primero, the brand is still associated with exceptional watchmaking.
